Four Varnas of Indian Culture

I always wonder about the number 4. This number appears too much in nature.

There are 4 types of blood. A, B, AB and O.
There are 4 types of people in the world. Asians, Chinese (Japan-China region), Africans and Europeans (Europe, America and Australia region).
There are 4 Varnas in India culture. Brahmans, Kshatriya, Vashyas and Shudra.
There are 4 Ashrams in Indian culture. Bal ashram, Vidhya Ashram, Grahsth ashram and Sanyas asram.

I always believe that there is some relation between all these fours. Initially I thought that the varna system of Indian culture may have some relation with blood groups. Originally, this system was based on the nature of profession. Now it is based on the birth. I still have to do some more research in this area. Since blood group is not mentioned anywhere in the Indian mythology, I thought that the creators of the varna system might have represented the blood group with 4 varnas. The relationship between blood group and behaviour of an individual may be an area of interest for a psychologist. I hope new research in this field will revel the truth.

Today I was reading Osho. He explains the theory of karma as mentioned in Shrimadbhagwat Geeta. The number 4 also appeared there. Osho said that there are two types of people in this world - introverts and extroverts. Psychology also says this fact. Osho further relates these two behaviours of an individual with Indian varna system. He says that introvert tendency of a person makes him Brahman. Similarly extrovert tendency of an individual makes him Kshatriya.

Introvert people live within themselves. They like peace. They tend to look deep inside themselves and are lost within themselves. On the other hand, extrovert people live in the society. They like people around them. They like power and governance. Extroverts live their life thinking about others. Introverts live their life thinking about themselves. I don't mean that introverts are selfish. Their world is within themselves.

When a person has more extrovert tendency, he became a Kshatriya. Kshatriya means ruler. He lover power. He wants to rule. But if he is not able to achieve this, he finds alternate way to achieve power. When extrovertism of a person is less powerful, he become vashya. Vashya finds alternative way to gain power. If he has no courage, he can buy courage. So he tries to gain power through money.

Bhagvan Mahavir was born in Kshatriya family. But he was introvert. So he became Brahman and then sanyasi. Those who followed him were also Kshatriya - his relatives and others. They tried to become introvert. They were extrovert and tried to become introvert. Result - they loose their extrovertism. Nobody can change his psychology. So they didn't become introvert. But they loose the power of extrovertism. So they become vashya. Today, followers of Bhagwan Mahavir, are Jains. And jains are the vashyas.

Similarly, when a person has week introvertism, he becomes shudra. He has no desire of power. He loves peace. But he cannot go deep inside him. So he simply works, eats, drinks and sleeps.

This mystery of number 4 need to be explored more. I hope, it will revel some more truths of nature.

That's it for today ... bye.
