When Does This Error Occurs :

This error occurs when you try to access http://localhost or any other website.

Cause:

The default access mode for iis is 'digest authentication for windows domain server'. This need to be changed to 'Integrated Windows Authentication'

How to Solve:

Follow the following Steps :
1. Open 'Internet Information Services' from Control Panel -> Administrative Tools.
2. In the tree pane at left side, expend 'Web Sites' node.
3. Right click on default website and choose properties.
4. On the properties dialog select the 'Direcotry Security' tab.
5. Make sure that 'Anonymous access' check box is checked.
6. Uncheck 'Allow IIS to control password' checkbox, if it is checked.
6. In the 'Authenticated Access' section, check 'Integrated Windows Authentication' checkbox and and uncheck the 'Digest Authentication' and 'Basic Authentication' checkboxes, if these are checked.
7. Click OK.
8. Again click OK.
9. Close Internet Information Services control panel. Your website should now work correctly.
