Control High Blood Pressure

Are you a patient of high blood pressure? If yes, drink tea.

Yes, tea helps in controlling the high blood pressure. While searching the net for the effects of drinking tea on our health, I learn this fact.

Acording to Americal Heart Association High blood pressure is a lifelong disease. It can usually be controlled but not cured.

A recent study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine examined the effects of drinking green tea on blood pressure. The study revealed that people, who drink 120 ml per day or more of green or oolong tea for at least one year, reduced the risk of developing high blood pressure. In fact, the risk of developing high blood pressure decreased by 46 percent for those who drank between 120 ml and 599 ml of green tea per day and decreased by 65 percent for those who drank more than 600 ml per day. This was compared to people who don't drink tea at all or drink less than 120 ml per day or 120 ml or more but for less than a year.
This study also showed that those who drank more than 120 ml of tea per day for more than one year had lower systolic blood pressures (the top or first number on your blood pressure reading) compared with those who didn't drink tea or that amount for a year or more. Other studies have looked at the relationship between green tea and blood pressure and found similar results. But still other studies have not proven any benefit regarding high blood pressure. More research is needed to confirm the effects of regular consumption of green tea on blood pressure. There might be other benefits to drinking green tea, as some studies have suggested its potential to prevent certain cancers for example.
Diet, exercise and weight management all play an important role in regulating blood pressure and preventing cardiovascular disease. Certain individuals who follow the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet have been shown to lower their blood pressure. Have a conversation with your doctor about important lifestyle changes that you can make, including dietary changes, in order to optimize your health and blood pressure and prevent cardiovascular disease.

In an article published by American Heart Association, Mukamal says "We found that tea drinkers generally had lower death rates regardless of age, gender, smoking status, obesity, hypertension, diabetes or previous heart attack."

Dr. Joseph Vita, M.D., Boston University School of Medicine studied the effects of tea on heart disease. He revels "The study demonstrated that drinking black tea reverses endothelial dysfunction. Endothelial dysfunction is believed to contribute importantly to the development of cardiovascular disease"

Jennifer Warner wrote in the WebMD Medical News that "Drinking a Half-Cup of Tea per Day Cuts Hypertension Risk in Half". This fact is reviewed by Brunilda Nazario, MD on Monday, July 26, 2004.

When I further digged the the fact I found that tea contains Flavonoids which reduce high blood pressure and harmful cholesterol and reduce the risk of cardio-vascular disease.
